Here we come a wassail-ing

Ha Ha....this is not a "carol", but it is a song that celebrates the New Year. Teka's favorite version is the one that is on the Muppet Album with John Denver.
Here we come a-wassailing
Among the leaves so green,
Here we come a-wand'ring
So fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send youA Happy New Year
,And God send you a Happy New Year.
We are not daily bloggers
That blog and nothing more,
But we are neighbors' lloving pets
Whom you have seen before
Love and joy come to you
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you A Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year.
Good master and good mistress,
As you sit beside the fire,
Pray think of us poor doggies
Who wander in the mire.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you A Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year
God bless the master of this house,
And the mistress too;
And all the little children
That round the table go.
The Cattle in the stable, the dog by the front door
And all who dwell within this house we wish you ten times more.
Love and joy come to you,
And to you your wassail, too,
And God bless you, and send you
A Happy New Year,
And God send you a Happy New Year.

Oh, the weather outside

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we've no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

The lovely fire it sizzles
And I've brought some Merrell Twizzles,
The lights are turned way down low,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

When we finally kiss goodnight,
How I'll hate going out in the storm!
But if you'll really hold me tight,
All the way home I'll be warm.

The fire is slowly dying,
And, my dear, we're still good-bying,
But as long as you love me so,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow

For Snickers, and Asta, and Faya and Aggie. For Koobie and Lacey and Maggie and Sunny. For all the lovely ladies of DWB.

Maybe it's much too early in the game
Ooh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's eve?

Wonder whose pawswill hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year
New Year's eve

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations
You received

Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve?

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations
You received

Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve?

Good Doggie Friends

OK pals, here is another one for you. This song was written sometime around 1300 by a Dominican mystic, Heinrich Suso. Now, you may not know it, but some of my best friends are Dominican priests and brothers. And one of them once told me that the name of their order comes from the Latin words, Domini Canes. Translated: God's Dogs. So, I think this is very appropriate. For those of you who like to hum along, the tune is the same as In Dulce Julbilo, and some guy named Bach has a version that might be in the top ten any day now.
Good doggie friends rejoice
With bark and yip give voice!

Give ye heed to what we say
Happy Holidays today
Parents, friends may come and see
Join our doggie jubiliee
Join our doggie jubilee

Good doggie friends , rejoice
With bark and yip give voice
Now ye hear of endless treats!
All good dogs should share in this
We know where the treats are stored.
Tummies now are full of bliss
Doggies come and share in this
Doggies come and share in this

Good doggie friends rejoice
With bark and yip give voice!
Now ye need not scrimp and save:
Treats for all Good Santa gave
Come now one and come now all
Join us in the dining hall
Dance and run with yips and barks
Dance and run with yips and barks

light one candle

We decided just to post this - a favorite of muzzer's because she heard it first at a PPM concert. A favorite of mine because I believe we can make a difference with just one candle, or one kindness.

boxing day! St. Stephen's Day! whoopee

First of all, apologies to my Poopsie, because muzzer did not remember to set a time to pull a boxing day cracker! Can we pull on New Year's?

And, today is the feast of St. Stephen, immortalized in the carol called "Good King Wenceslaus"

Here is our favorite version, revised for the new characters

Good King Wally, he looked out,
On the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about,
Deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
Tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor dog came in sight,
Gath'ring winter fuel.
"Hither, Ethel, stand by me,
If thou know'st it, telling,
Yonder canine, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"
"Sire, he lives a good league hence,
And his name is Oscar;
Right against the forest fence,
By Saint Agnes' fountain."
"Bring me flesh, and bring me bones,
Bring me pine logs hither:
Thou and I will see him dine,
When we bear them thither.
"Walls and Ethel forth they went,
Forth they went together;
Thro' the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather.
"Wally it is getting dark,
And the wind blows stronger;
Fails my heart, I fear to bark,
I can go no longer."
"Mark my footsteps, good my page;
Tread thou in them boldly:
Thou shalt find the winter's rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly."
In her master's steps she trod,
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the saint had printed.
Therefore, all ye dogs, be sure,
Wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
Shall yourselves find blessing.

This is also in honor of Wally's ma Ape, who does so much with the SPCA. Thank you very much.

I'll be home

for all of our blogger friends who are with their furever family this year, and for doggies who are still waiting to find "home" and the people who live there:

I'll be home for Christmas
You can count on me
Don't need snow and mistletoe
Or presents under the tree
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
Christmas Eve will find me
Where the love light beams
I'll be home for Christmas
If only in my dreams
If only in my dreams

Reader's Digest!

Muzzer says I must first make clear that she really (no, REALLY) doesn't usually read Reader's Digest. But she has been spending a lot of time waiting in the offices of various Doctors and Dentists while Aunt Marie has her blood pressure checked, and her teeth whitened (at 95!) And she thought she would share this with you, because she is not the only one writing alt. lyrics to christmas songs this year!

BARK THE HAIRY ANGELS SING

"Bark" the labradoodles sing

"Look at us, the latest thing"

"Curly hair and tempers mild"

"Big and small dog reconciled"

"Don't forget us" call the puggles

Shorkies yip "We're best for snuggles"

"Wait a sec" the mutts proclaim

"'Neath our fur we're all the same"

"Hark, though wondrous breeds abound."

"Don't forsake the local pound."

For Muzzer - who has abandonded me

Our Muzzer is in St. Loulis, and Dad says we are going there soon...but just in case, here is a christmas song done by a boy from Mayemphis, Once upon a time.

We''ll have a blue christmas without you

We'll be so blue just thinking about you

When E.Rabbit arrives, she will sure miss you too

But she'll give us our presents, cause we can't wait for you

And when the sleet comes down, tomorrow

We'll all think of you, with sorrow

You'll be doin all right, with your christmas of white

But we'll have a blue, blue blue blue christmas

The Carol for Monday, Dec. 21, 2008

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
To walk with Snickers in the Snow
Where the treetops glisten, and doggies listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With all my doggy pals around
Where the treats and presents, We'd share with dog friends
And clear stars would shine above
I'm dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white

My Muzzer has abandoned me. She has followed the Barkies to St. Loulis! But hey, I am gonna follow her there on Tuesday, so it won't be too bad.
Me and Teka want you to know that we are working hard to update our bloggie...but Teka only uses one toenail to type, and I don't read very fast. So we will be visiting your bloggies, and maybe we can't post a message every time we visit, but we will try real hard.
And we will be doin' our carols, but you may not like them, because muzzer is the rhymer here, and she is also the best singer of the three of us. Not that that says much for her ability to rhyme or carry a tune.
So please be patient, know that we love you all, and we are doin' our bestest!
Oh, and maybe we will get these cards mailed for Ephiphany!

The Barkies Came to visit us this weekend. I'll bet they were sorry, when Teka turned herself into a one dog welcoming committee!

We played some bitey face, Teka kept tryin to boss us around, our parents tried to have some conversations, and then, all of a sudden!
It was this morning, and time for them to leave for St. Loulis so they could visit their Grandma!
We hope they have a wonderful time, and we hope that they can come back and visit us again. Or maybe me and dad can make a guys trip and visit them this year durning Spring Training. Go CARDS!
So Long Barkies...have a safe trip and stay warm!

Chanukhah Song

I confess to being a pretty ecumenical kind of guy. And so I am embarrassed that I know only on song for Chanukhah. And so, with apologies to Jake and Harry, who asked me NOT to do the dreidel song...here is a reprise from last year.

Axel has a dreidel

He made it out of clay

When it was dry and ready

Then dreidel he did play

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel

They made it out of clay

When it was dry and ready

Then dreidel he did play

Jakey has a dreidel

It's made of stuffy stuff

And when he tries to play with it

Just Harry he gets rough

Chorus

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

It's made of stuffy Stuff

When Jake tries to play with it

Just Harry he gets rough

I like to play with dreidel

It loves to dance and spin

I chase it round the corner

And then we start again

CHORUS

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Driedel

I watch it dance and spin

I Chase it round the corner

And then we start again

I chase it cross the kitchen

I chase it down the stairs

We run under the table

We’re really quite a pair

CHORUS

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

I like to chase that thing

I chase it nearly everywhere

We're really quite a pair

It never says it’s tired

It never wants to stop

It is the perfect toy for me

My lovely dreidel top

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel,

The perfect toy for me

It never wants to stop and rest

My lovely dreidel top

So every year at Hanukkah

We play this lovely game

A lovely game for wirey boys

And dreidel is its name.

Chorus

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

A game for wirey boys

Of clay or stuffy, or of wood

Still dreidel is its name.

Barkalots are coming to town

You better watch out!
Better not cry!
Better not pout!
I'm telling you why,Barkie Boys are comin' to town...

We're Makin a List
Checkin it twice
Teka's been naughty and I've been real nice
Barkalots are comin' to town

They know where we are sleepin
They know what time we wake
They know if we've been fightin much
So we're good for Barkies sake

With Sweaters galore and galoshes too
Dog beds and dog toys and chewed up old shoes
Barkalots are comin' to town.

Stuffies that squeak and things we can chew
Rubbery toys in yellow and blue
Barkie Boys are comin to town.

The terriers in Midtown
Will have a cause for glee
We're gonna wrap our leashes round
Every lighted Christmas Tree

So write up that list
Check the stuff twice
BBQ dinner is gonna taste nice
Barkalots are comin
I tell you Jake and Harry are comin
I'm sayin Barkie boys are comin to town

THEY'RE COMIN TO TOWN!

Up on the housetop

Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Scooter Claus
Down through the chimney with bones and toys
All for the doggies Christmas joys
Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus
First comes the stocking of Lillie Belle
Oh, dear Scooter fill it well
Give her a stuffy that laughs and cries
One that will open and shut her eyes
Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus
Next comes the stocking of Sophie B
Oh, just see what can it be?
Here is a scarf so nice and warm
Also a bully stick, big and round.
Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus

His pal Tanner waits outside
Came along just for the ride
Two more stockings they must fill
Then their mommies get the bill
Can't stay long at any house
Must be quiet as a mouse

Petra gets a pretty toy,
She knows Scooter is her boy
Lots of lovely stuff to eat, some little socks for her front feet.
For Sister Sunny, treat her well
So your secrets she won't tell
Here is a book on how to flirt
Eyelash stuff and a poodle skirt
Girlie stuff that she will like
No bang bang guns or big red bikes

Two tired Santas head for home
Now no more will these two roam
They'll be back some other day
Maybe they can stay and play

Christmas in the Desert

for all those hoomans who remember Bing Crosby...Here is a reworked version of
Chirstmas in Killarney.

And this is Joey and the Doofus' tree! I "borrowed" it from their blog. It is supposed to be Christmas in the desert, right?????
gus

The cactus green, the palm trees green
The prettiest picture you've ever seen
Is Christmas in the desert
With Joe and the Doof at home

It's nice, you know, to kiss ole JoeWhile cuddling under the mistletoe
And Sophie's here from Canada
And doesn't want to go home

The door is always open
The neighbors pay a call
And Stan the Goob before he's gone
Will stain the house and the hall

How grand it feels to bark and reel
And join in the fun of the chase and steal
I'm handing you no blarney
The likes you've never known
Is Christmas in desert
With Joe and the Doof at home

Hey Swede William

Hey Swede William, let's share a milk bone under the tree, you and me
Been an awful good girl, really Willie, so hurry down the chimney tonight
Hey Swede William, a '52 convertible too, for you,
I'll wait up for you my dear Swede Willam,
so hurry down the chimney tonight

Think of all the fun I've missed
Think of all the doggies that I haven't kissed
Next year I could be just as good
If you'd check off my Christmas list

Boo doo bee doo hey Swede William,
I found for you a stuffie that's hot-that's what
You've been an angel all year, my dear
Swedest William, so hurry down the chimney tonight

William honey, one thing that I do I think you need, the key
To my condo divine, I'll share
so hurry down the chimney tonight

We can trim my Christmas tree
With some things that muzzer bought at Tiffany
I really do believe in you
Let's see if you believe in me
Boo doo bee doo

Willie Swedie, forgot to mention one little thing,
Ring me up on the phone, alone
Leave the waggle at home
Willie baby, and hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry down the chimney tonight
Hurry ... tonight

Tennessee Christmas

OK, we are such losers that we just heard this one for the first time. So, we're sending it straight to all of you, with wishes from our hearts that you could all join us

to hear it go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKwOByDgW3I

Come on weather man give us a forecast snowy white
Can't you hear the prayers of every childlike heart tonight
Rockies are callin', Denver snow fallin'
Somebody said it's four feet deep, but it doesn't matter
Give me the laughter,
I'm gonna choose to keep
Another tender Tennessee Christmas,
the only Chirstmas for me
Where the love circles around us
like the gifts around our tree
Well I know there's more snow up in Colorado
than my roof will ever seeB
ut a tender Tennessee Christmas is the only Christmas for me
Every now and then I get a wanderin' urge to see
Maybe California, maybe Tinsel Town's for me
There's a parade there, we'd have it made there
Bring home a tan for New Year's Eve
Sure sounds exciting, awfully inviting,
still I think I'm gonna keep
Another tender Tennessee Christmas,
the only Christmas for me
Where the love circles around us
like the gifts around our tree
Well they say in L.A. it's a warm holiday,
it's the only place to be
A tender Tennessee Christmas, is the only Christmas for me
Well I know there's more snow up in Colorado than my roof will ever see
But a tender Tennessee Christmas is the only Christmas for me
A tender Tennessee Christmas is the only Christmas for me

and we'll have a funny one later!

Dog Tags Ring
Are you listenin'?
In the dark, noses glisten
A clear cold night is a doggie delight
Walking in our winter wonderland

See the trees, they're a great spot
Just to pee, in a straight shot
Watch out for the rocks, or wires that may shock
Walking in our winter wonderland

Here's the house, where the cat lives
And the fence where the boards give
Someday they'll fall down
When we are around
Barking in the winter wonderland

We can't wait til we get to the corner
To see if Mom has brought some treats to give.
She'll say "Are you good dogs."
Someone warn her
That answerin that is not the way to live.

Down the block, there's a grade school
Stuff thrown out can be real cool
There's hamburger buns, and chewy green gum
Walking in our winter wonderland.

There's a cat that sits out on the porch there
And two dogs who do not have much hair
They bark up a storm, as we stroll along
Walkin in our winter wonderland

On the way home we will pass the poodles
Stir them up and leave them, ain't life grand
Peace and quiet, not with us here
We will stir up a fuss here
The neighbors will know, we'd love it to snow
Walkin in a winter wonderland.
Me and Teka like to go out walking,
Mom and Dad they kind of trail along
And all of us love, our sweaters and gloves
Walking in our winter wonderland

Mayemphis, is much colder
Than our home, near the boulder
there's still not much snow
But buddy you know,
This morning it's our winter wonderland.

Rockin'

Rocking around the Christmas tree
At the DWB Sock Hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Every doggie tries to stop.

Rocking around the Christmas tree,
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some Bones and stuff
And we'll do some caroling.

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear
Doggies barking " let's be jolly,
Deck the halls with boughs of holly. "

Rocking around the Christmas tree,
Have a happy holiday
Doggies are dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way.

Asta and Stan can jitterbug
In a great four legged way
Gussie and Snickers disappear
For a while but nothing stops

Ruby and Mack have a grand old time
They are joined by Soph and Joe
Everyone knows that we write these rhymes
Never knowing who will show.

Scooter and his twinnie
lead a big long line of dogs
Teka helps them get outside
where they all can hunt some frogs

Nobody cares what time it is
But the youngsters fall asleep.
Time to dim the tree lights low
And our promises to keep

We all get a sentimental feeling when we hear
Doggies barking "let's be jolly
Deck the halls with boughs of holly."

Rocking around the Christmas tree
May our friendship never stop
Everyone dancing merrily at the DWB sock hop.

I'm Getting Nothing, for Christmas ....by Teka

Y'all might remember parts of this one...every year we reprise it, and every year, we have more to add.

I ran away and scared my dad;
Somebody snitched on me.
I ate a toad and I am glad;
Somebody snitched on me.

I made them buy an 'lectric fence;
Got past that one some months hence;
Stayed out late at someones ranch;
Somebody snitched on me.

Oh, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Muzzer and Daddy are mad.
I'm getting nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.

I've chewed up each and every tug
I ate a bird and then a bug.
Puked it all up on the rug
Somebody snitched on me

So, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
Muzzer and Daddy are mad.
I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas
'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad.

I won't be seeing Santa Claus;
Somebody snitched on me.
He won't come visit me because
Somebody snitched on me.
Next year I'll be going straight;
Next year I'll be good, just wait
I'd start now, but it's too late;
Somebody snitched on me.

Take this lesson straight to heart
Don't make being bad an art
Make new friends and do your part
Or someone'll snitch on you.

OH CHRISTMAS TREE!

These are my pals Jackson and Patrick. They told a story today about their Christmas tree, which started my little mind working.
In Germany, this song is known as O Tannenbaum, and the first known version of it dates to 1550. It is also known as Maryland, my Maryland, where one line says "Avenge the patriotic gore, that flecked the streets of Baltimore." That's the kind of thing you find out when your muzzer is a history buff. Fun, huh.
Anyway, here is our song about Patrick and Jackson's christmas tree. You can read the whole story on their blog.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine-cones
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine-cones
Not only ate them but got ill
His stomach sick, He needs a pill
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine cones
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?
How often now has he been told
Pine cones are bad, when eaten cold
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?

Breedism

In 2006, when I posted this for the first time, I was very guilty of breedism. What did I know? There were fewer doggies blogging then, and most of my buddies were Wirey Fellows, like me. I still have some affection for this song,

So, in reprise, with a few changes.....

I want a wire fox terrier for Christmas
Only a wire fox terrier will do
Don't want a pug, no tiny poodle toy
I want a wire fox terrier to play with and enjoy
I want a wire fox terrier for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our dirty chimney flue
Just bring him through the front door, that's the easy thing to do
I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprisewhen I open up my eyesto see a wire fox terrier standing there
I want a wire fox terrier for Christmas Only a wire fox terrier will do
No Dobermen or Spaniels, or Schnockapoos will do
I only like wire fox terriers And terriers like me too
Mom says the wirey would eat me up,
but tell me could it be much worse than what Teka has done to me?

(Short Music Interlude)
There's lots of room for him to sleep in our big bed with me
I'd share my food and share my toys, and even wash his hair

I can see me now on Christmas morning, creeping down the stairs
Oh what joy and what surprisewhen I open up my eyes to see a wire fox terrier standing there
I want a wire fox terrier for Christmas
Only a wire fox terrier will do

Jingle Bells

Wow, we haven't done this one since 2006, but we have a special request from our pal Poopsie B.

Here is the URL for the previous post.

Hope Muzzer and I can do something better this time!

******************************************************************

Dashing round the World
On Aire Ruby just today
Round the world we go
Barking all the way
Doggie tags do ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to bark and sing
A travelling song tonight!

Oh, Jingle Tags, Jingle Tags
Jingle All the way,
Oh what fun it is to fly
Aire Ruby any day

A Day or two ago,
I thought I'd take a ride,
and soon my Snickers Sweet,
was seated by my side.
We let old Butcho drive
You know he's not the best
And this poor pink three wheeler, it ended like the rest

Oh, Jingle Tags, Jingle Tags
Jingle All the way,
Oh what fun it is to fly
Aire Ruby any day

We called our pals for help
And Ruby soon came through
She came here through a snowstorm and
A major ice storm too

Oh, Jingle Tags, Jingle Tags
Jingle All the way,
Oh what fun it is to fly
Aire Ruby any day

We're heading round the world
To visit all our friends
We'll visit Poopsie first
Then Jackson's round the bend
We'll stop at Eric's place
See Faya and Dyos
And then we'll head for Singapore
And the Australian coast

A few more stops I'm sure,
Before we head back home
See Asta and the skating rink
And maybe head for Nome

But Snickers' gettin tired
And really so am I
We're glad that Ruby stays awake
As round the world we fly

Oh, Jingle Tags, Jingle Tags
Jingle All the way,
Oh what fun it is to fly
Aire Ruby any day

So now we're headed home
We'll make just two more stops
Eduardo and the Sun Dogs, Hey!
This travellin is the tops

So thanks to Ruby Sweet
For taking such good care
We hope you like this little song
That we so gladly share

Oh, Jingle Tags, Jingle Tags
Jingle All the way,
Oh what fun it is to fly
Aire Ruby any day

The Laundry formerly known as clean

Me and Teka interrupt this flow of Christmas Carol adaptations to introduce you to:

The Laundry Formerly Known As Clean!

It is a rainy day here, and muzzer is doing laundry. Human that she is, her "method" is to pile the clean laundry on the bed so that she can fold it all at once.

Ahem. We went for noon walkies and came back SOAKED. She tried to dry us with the towel, she tried to dry us with the blow dryer, but we prefer to use TLFKAC!

That should get the message across, don't you think?

To make up for her presumption and for putting us through all this dampness, we allowed her to make our favorite soup for lunch.

We call it Strega Nonna's Soup.

Muzzer calls it Pastina and Egg

It is yummy. It is warm, and it is good for what ails you, even if that is extreme dampness.

So we asked her to give our pals the recipe, in case anyone else needs something to keep them warm, or help them fight off some terrible virus. For Hoomans, it is kind of like Chicken soup. Muzzer says, it is pawfect.

Here is how you do it.

Put some water in the pot. 4-6 cups, depending on how much soup you want

Turn on the burner, cover the pot and wait til the water boils.

Add 1/3 cup of pastina or other teeny tiny pasta for every 4 cups of water.

Add 1 TBS olive oil for every four cups of water

Cook 6-10 minutes, until pasta is how you like it.

Meanwhile, beat one eggy for every four cups of water.

When the pasta is done, add the eggy s-l-o-w-l-y, stirrrring the soup as you add the eggy.

turn off the burner and wait until it cools enough for the doggies to eat, but is still warm enough to make them feel cozy. (At our house, this is how long it takes muzzer to gobble "her" serving)

We do not put salt in this or pepper when we are making it for doggies. Hoomans can add salt as needed. Doggies cannot. Same with pepper.

Try it, you might just like it.

More carols after dinner.

A request from the Bumpass Hounds

I want a great big Bully Stick for Christmas
Only one from Merrick's place will do
Don't want a kong, no puzzle challenge box
I want a Merrick Bully Stick to chew on and destroy

I want a Merrick Bully Stick for Christmas
I don't think Santa Claus will mind, do you?
He won't have to use our closed up chimney flue
Just bring it through the front door,
that's the easy thing to do

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the hall
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a Merrick Bully lying there

I want a Merrick Bully Stick for Christmas
Buying one from PetSmart just won't do
No stuffie toys, no purple school busses
I only like the Merricks, cause they rack up all those plusses
And give me lots of things that I can chew

(Short Music Interlude)

Mom says the Merrick Bully Stick's too big
But she has seen me chew them down just like a little pig
(Short Music Interlude)

There's lots of room for Bully Sticks in our dog pantry here
I'd put the newest ones in back and eat from front to rear

I can see me now on Christmas morning,
creeping down the hall
Oh what joy and what surprise
when I open up my eyes
to see a Merrick Bully lying there

I want a Merrick Bully Stick for Christmas
Only a Merrrick Bully Stick will do
No new balls, or ropy tuggy trick
I only like the Merrick, it's the bestest Bully Stick
And Mr. Merrick seems to like me tooooooooo

Who is kissin' Santa this year?

Today, we had a request from our new friend STELLA (another one, not Stanny's sissie) She said she wanted a new version of I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus.

Me and Muzzer went into the archives, and found this from the very first year we were blogging. And since Opy and Charlie and Bussie are still around, here is that version.

"I saw Opy kissing Bussie Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night.
She didn't see me creep
down the stairs to have a peep;
She thought that I was tucked
up in my bedroom fast asleep.
Then, I saw Opy tickle Bussie Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white;
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Charlie had only seen
Opy kissing Bussie Claus last night!"
"

But we would also like to offer a new one for our friends this year.

We saw Asta kissing Stanny Claus
Underneath the mistletoe last night.
She didn't see me creep
down the stairs to have a peep;
She thought that I was tucked
up in my bedroom fast asleep.
Then, I saw Asta tickle Stanny Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white;
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Stella Goob had only seen
Asta kissing Stanny Claus last night!"

Christmas Song, With the Terrier Trio

This Carol is Dedicated to my pals, Scruffy, Lacie and BabyStan, who often remind me of the original recording group.

Mumsie is the producer voice...

Mumsie: all right you Terriers! Ready to sing your song?-

Okay, Scruffy?-

Okay!

Okay, Baby Stan?-

Okay!

Okay, Lacie? Lacie? LACIEEEE!

Christmas, Christmas time is near
Time for bones and time for cheer
We've been good, but we can't last
Hurry Christmas, hurry fast
Want a plane that loops the loop
Me, I want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Okay terriers, get ready....That was very good, SCRUFFY.

-Naturally.

Very good BabyStan....-Ahhh.Ah, Lacie you were a little flat, watch it.
Ah, Lacie? Lacie? LACIEEEEE!-

OKAY!!!

Want a plane that loops the loop
I still want a hula hoop
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.
We can hardly stand the wait
Please Christmas, don't be late.

Very good, terriers-Lets sing it again!

St. Nicholas Day

December 6 is St. Nicholas day, and we celebrate it in our house in much the same way that muzzer did when she was a little girl.

Me and Teka borrow a stocking from Dad, (his are bigger, ya know?)
and put them on the mantel. Tomorrow morning when we get back from walkies, we will have some treats, maybe a bully stick, maybe a new kong or chew toy.

So for us, St. Nicholas is the start of the holiday. Muzzer has transferred the Christmas dishes to the kitchen cupboard, and the house will start to smell pretty good soon.

Here is my carol for St. Nicholas day

Jolly old St. Nicholas, Listen to me please

I have got some things to say, Don’t you run away.
Christmas Eve is coming soon; Now, you dear old man,
Listen to what doggies want, Help us if you can

In addition to world peace, ending war and strife
We want every single dog to have a happy life
Now, you see, I understand, That's a lot to ask
But if anyone can help, you can do this task.

Bring a pup for Sasha and a dog for them to share
Breed is not important, they don't need a matched pair
Brown eyes would be nice, but it's ok if eyes are blue
Two eyes to watch over them but maybe one will do.

Their dad will be busy now, busier than before
He will have a lot to do, building a strong core
We know that their mom will help, She is lovely too
But for puppies we'll depend exclusively on you.

Get dogs from a shelter group, rescue or the pound
Get them where the bestest dogs, surely will be found.
Oh! You'll have to keep them til the girls get their new home
Make sure that the doggies know, they are not to roam.

Doggies that will be there when they go to bed at night
Greet them in the morning when the day is turning bright
Doggies that will listen to their secrets and their hopes
You can choose St. Nickolas, for these special folks.

I don't need a present, I am happy here you see
Give some other dogs a chance to be happy just like me
Keep my buddies healthy, make our muzzers strong
Please keep Peanut's daddy safe, he'll be home e'er long.

Thank you for your time today, I know you must go
You have lots of people who are waiting in the snow
Please accept my humble thanks, For your help St. Nick

Oh and just in case you've got and extra one or so
I take a large in bully sticks, Just in case, you know.

Happy Gotcha Day

Some of my blogging pals (just a few...) who are rescues just like me.

In honor of my Gotcha Day, we are posting the First Carol of the Season

Dog Rest Ye, All ye Rescue Dogs
Who have a home today
Whose humans give you shelter
And love and treats and play
Remember all the ones who wait
On this, my special day

Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine
Maybe like mine
Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine

And all you humans and ma apes who volunteer your time
In shelters and in transport drives, amid the dirt and grime
Who share your homes, your hearts, your love
And find them homes sublime

Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine
Maybe like mine
Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine

The need seems never-ending, the hurting does not cease
We thank those who do what they can to bring these doggies peace
And ask that when your gifts you buy
You save them a small piece

Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine
Maybe like mine
Oh oh please help them find a home that's fine

kisses
Gussie
