In which I relate my tale of woe...

I know, I know...it has been more than a week since I posted, and then it was to tell you that muzzer would be out of town and we would be back on Sunday!

Uh Uh...Didn't happen.

You see...while muzzer was in St. Loulis, she and Dad decided that we are moving. Again!

Since I came to live with these peripatetic hoomans, we have lived in VA., AZ, NM, MO., TN., and now they tell me we are moving back to VA!

I'd like to know if they have taken my need for permanency and security into account here?

Don't they remember how nervous I was when I came to live with them? How I acted out because I was afraid of being left behind?

Clearly, they have blocked this from their selective memories.

SIGH.

This means that muzzer is cleaning and packing and checking out houses in Richmond and putting MY BUNGALOW! up for sale. Hey! I really like this place. And I have finally figured out the mysterious "pet door." Sheesh.

So, here we are again. Teka says she is moving to Pah Duke Her to be with Willy Yum. I think I will post a muzzer wanted ad on my blog here and take my chances. They will be sorry...yes they will.

Gussie

And now, a word from the muzzer:

We do apologize to all our blogging friends for being AWOL, and we cannot promise that this will be the last time it happens. Moving is pretty stressful, and this is our second in a two year period. (oh, those "living" experiences Gussie mentioned in New Mexico and Missouri were really just "visits" for 45-60 days in the summer. He did exaggerate a bit.)

So, the story really is that Rich has accepted a position at the University of Richmond as a "Distinguished Professor in Liberal Arts and Humanities" beginning with the fall semester. And we are leaving Memphis sometime in mid July for our new home (assuming the house hunting trip goes well.) And yes, we are selling his BUNGALOW and his BACK YARD! But we hope to find a new one for him. We are hoping he will adjust and not grow up warped and resentful.

On the bright side, we did not buy cemetery plots or niches for our urns, which we did discuss. And we are staying in the USA. And we are moving closer to E.Rabbit. But Memphis has been good to us, and we will leave behind some very dear friends and places we have come to love and appreciate.

I'll be spending more time on the airplane, flying to St. Louis. But less time on HWY 55, which is quite boring. And all our friends in Blog Land will still be right where we hope to find them.

So, if you were planning to visit us in Mayemphis, now is the time. But we will welcome you to Richmond and do the Civil War battlefield tour, Monticello, and etc.

And I promise we will post at least one new picture this weekend.

"the muzzer."

Oh, Gussie. I am so very sad to hear about your tail of woe. I, too, likes my routine and for everythingtostaythesamealways. But maybe you could looks at it as a big adventure! And maybe you'll even meet some new furends. That would be fun, right?

And as for looking for a new muzzer. I thinks you might as well just go along with this crazy plan of the one you have. You just never knows what you're gonna get when you go lookin' for a new muzzer.

Don't worry, Gussie! Our pawrents moved 14 times in 15 years. The last time was almost 18 years ago. As long as they pack your bed, you've got nothing to worry about!

Dear Gussie. Sounds like Virginia could be a blast. Think how wagging it will be to be the wiry boy of a Distinguished Professor of Liberal Arts and Humanities.

Yap those words on the street pal and wooooo you'll get R -E-S-P-E-C-T. Plus loads of fans. Which must mean zillions of treats. For you. Wagging now? Oh and keep Muzzer. She's comes with Dad. Plus she's a good 'un.

Wiry love Eric xx xx

Oh dear, Auntie Muzzer...

I swear I just helped you pack books the last time...now, no worries, my dear...the Lacie will be arriving shortly to assist in the details...do you need me to come to VA to help house pick? I'm fab at that...I'm thinking we should start with eleven or twelve bedrooms...so when Teka gives a pawty er um when Teka has a get together for Civil War bandage rolling reenactment, we'll have plenty of roomies...oh...I pawstively need my own bath...I have sooooo many fur supplies...

Kisses to Gussie dear...he does sound a tad dramatic...perhaps some treats could help...

It should be noted that while they are moving closer to E.Rabbit they continue to move further and further away from E.Beth.

I take this personally.

This sounds pretty exciting to us, Gussie! Mom remembers Williamsburg when she was in 6th grade. OMG, that was half a century ago!

Love ya lots,

Gussie. So are you saying that boxes and piles add up to moving? No! Tell me it's not true!

But that's about us, and our chaos. Not you. We think that a nice historic home in Virginia sounds just about perfect! And even if it's not historic, it will be after you and Teka live there. We're guessing you are going to love your new digs. (Is Trader Joe's in Virginia? We haven't checked.)

Anyhow ... congratulations to your dad (does this mean more and better treats?) And we suggest you keep your muzzer. We liked her (and your dad) a lot. If you can, be patient. If moving is anything like all the pile rearrangements we see going on here, it can be time consuming and stressful stuff.

Oh Gussie, Don't worry. Believe me when I tell you that this moving and househunting and packing are much worse on your Muzzer than on you. (Hard to believe, but I've watched it several times in my mom and she becomes a crazy person-uh, crazier I should say)shhhh don't tell her I said that.
Make sure she keeps your toys, beds, treats and any other of YOUR belongings out and that you are allowed to have them in the Gussiemobile with you when the time comes. It's a law or something that she MUST.
Ya know Gussie, I realize you are a WFT and all, and you guys stick together, but have you given any thought to becoming, ahem, involved with a leggy type Standard Poodle?????? I'm just sayin.
Congrats to your Dad. Pretty impressive title and more treats for you I bet!!!!
In the words of Auntie Mame(my mom wants to be her she says) "Life is a banquet, and most poor suckers are starving" So travel away dear boy! Enjoy the banquet.
Hugs
Sunny
pee ess you can always come down to visit us in Texas while the moving junk is going on. Give the word and Scooter will borrow one of his friends planes.
(sorry e. beth.......)
