Gussie is home and seems a bit slower than usual, but not really groggy.
Adventuresome ride home with the gang in the gussiemobile, everybody wanted to sit next to gussie, so we finally folded the seats down and let them all cuddle. They have all been a great help, thanks to all the dog parents for lending them.
Thanks particularly to Lacey's mom who supplies the smoothie mix. Yum.
Gus is pretty gruesome, and has asked that we not take pictures until later tomorrow. We will honor his wishes, but promise to post at least one gorey picture so that he and Jackson can compare scars.
Rodney was one hundred percent fatty tissue, and has officially been labelled a "lipoma" by the vet. He was more like small fist sized, so slightly larger than we had anticipated, necessitating the placement of a drain.
Vet said Gussie was a real sweetie to work with, and the nursies are caring for him right now, but I want to go back and observe their techniques.
Possible pictures tomorrow after we pack him off on Aire Ruby.

Sweet Sweet Muzzer Girl!
Thank you for the update and for loving our Gussie Boy so much. I can't wait to see his scar. He'll look like such a bad boy now. (Not that he didn't look like a bad boy before - a fluffy white lamby-type bad boy.)
Goober love & healing goob smooches,
Stanley
Hurray for fatty tissue!!! I think you shoudl get a very special award from the Substantial Wires Club for taking substantial to a new level - your neck.
Hurrah for Gus. So glad it was a limpoma and that all is looking good. Bravo to the nurses and to Muzzer....

I'm gonna post my picture on our blog so you can see how i fixed the picture taking thing and cut down my urge to lick at my staples. Now Gussie...it's just a drain...we will thoroughly instruct you on drain care...the most important thing is NOT TO CHEW ON IT!
Scruffy had a drain when he was 6 weeks old...one of his sibs or his mama bit him...(giggle!) and he got infected and had to have surgery at the tender weight of 3 pounds...poor Scruffy...that's why he doesn't have a brain or something....
Muzzer is repeatedly asking for more smoothies...she and Noah's mom surely enjoy my efforts with the blender!!!
Can anyone get the Barkalots to STOP BARKING? This isn't good for rest and healing, Sweet Gus!
I'm sorry that Teka is um well.. under the weather. She drank ALOT of the special smoothie mixture that Muzzer poured in her bowl...
Love and kissies...Lacie
I'm taking the nite shift if Asta lets me...Miss Snickers needs her rest!
Pee Ess...what was the estimate on the damage to the Gussie mobile?
w00f's Muzzer, thank your fur lettin us no...ooops rodney shure was a big one....tell Gussie to do wat the nursies tell him and he will b good as new soon...
b safe,
~rocky~
that's some good news about Gus. we know he's in good hands with all of the nursing care he's getting. and we definitely want to see some scar action. Bailey has a pawsome scar to show off also!
woofs.
Glad the karma was good!!! How are the drain/stitches protected from an errant paw?
Jake and Just Harry
Hi, Gussie!
Glad to know you are at home now and that everything went well.

HI Gussie!
Glad to hear that your surgery went well and Rodney is just fat! Hope you are recovering well and I can't wait to see your 'battle scar'! *wink*
Scottie
Of course you were perfect, Gus. I would have expected nothing less. I'm glad to hear that Rodney was just a chub and nothin' bad. I've never had one that big--you're a brave dude.
I can't wait to see the pictures. I love gore. More than Al Gore, even. Though I would most def watch a power point presentation of your Gore.

Gussie...how are we all gonna get any sleep in here with Muzzer snorin' like that? I may have to put one of those soft airways in to keep her airway open...that bedtime smoothie was supposed to be FOR YOU!
Lacie...
Call me if you need anything...fresh waterbowl by ur bed...pain meds in the med drawer (I have the keys...it's locked..)...Snickers is comin' on at 0700 to give u ur bathie...
Darling boy,You are a model patient(except for when you were coming out of anaesthesia and thought I was Teka....what a set of teeth on you!!! Now leave the drain alone or Muzzer will collapse( well she may have already as Lacie's smoothies pack a mean punch....is that why she is snoring so loudly??)We will tell Lacie to lower the sound on the blender this eveing so you will sleep well and then early in the am we will bring you(well Snickers will...hee hee) your tea and crumpets....Love Agatha
Hope you heal quickly and are back to your old self soon Gus!
Ozzie & Rocky
We have been reading about your surgery and are wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thank goodness!! We've been trying to leave you a message but blogger has been a pain. :(
Sending you lotsa kisses,
Dot-Spot & The Brats
We are so glad to hear that Gussie is out of danger and is home, doing well. And what a relief to learn that Rodney was just fatty tissue. Phew!!
Good luck in your recovery, Gussie!! We love you!!
Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie
Oh Muzzer, thanks for the report. We are so relieved up here in Padoookie! We suppose Swede William is already there. If he is a NUISANCE send him packing, but we thought he might keep Teka mmmmm entertained. Just don't let him anywhere near the smoothies! Those Swedes can't hold their licker when it's hot out!!!
gentle wags from the whippets
Like Jackson, I too was wondering whether Rodney could come home in a jar,tee hee!
So glad all went well, and sound like you're getting some great aftercare.

Gussie, we're really glad you're home where you belong. Don't let those nursies boss you around too much! And tell Muzzer to watch out for those smoothies. We've heard they can make you sleep for a week!
Aire-hugs,
Poppy, Penny & Patches
My sissy a long time ago had a lipoma removed that weighed over a pound and was the size of a volleyball!!
She did fine and had no complications - I know you will be okay too!
