Street Gang

For those Sesame Street fans who are joining us in a year long celebration of the 40th anniversary of the show (see our post earlier this month):

Diane Reahm will feature the author of a recent book Street Gang on her show this morning. This will be the 11:00 am (et) segment, and the author Michael Davis will join her to talk about the development of the program. Check your local PBS station, or dial in to www.wamu.org and listen to it live.

Oh, and DON'T FORGET support your local NPR/PBS station. They are not all commie pinko bleeding heart liberals there. Oscar the Grouch lives there too.

My local station can't afford Diane or Terry, sigh. Thanks for the heads up, though. I'll listen on line.

We did hear the show, and it was wonderful. Mom listens to NPR almost all day -- but she realized on the trip how different all of the stations are from city to city.

(Glad you found Teka. We lost JH this morning; then Dogdad realized JH must have been left behind in the bedroom upstairs when we shut the door and came downstairs.)

Our dad says you guys must have a different NPR peeps than us, cuz here in the metro DC area they are pretty much all those things you said that they are not. We do watch PBS a lot, escpecially BBC America stuff. PBS doesn't seem anywhere near as politically orientated as NPR though. PBS is entertaining for just about everyone but ya really have to be traveling in the left lane to listen to NPR and drink that kool-aid. Heck, even Garrison Keiller couldn't hold center stage. Terry Gross tries to be unbiased most of the time but she still falls down occassionally because she leans too far to the left. Opinions are like pulses; most live people have one. We just try to avoid the S-R-P topics cause it always cases the birds to ruffle their feathers.
