For all the Beautiful Blogging ladies

Maybe it's much too early in the game
Ooh, but I thought I'd ask you just the same
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's eve?

Wonder whose paws will hold you good and tight
When it's exactly twelve o'clock that night
Welcoming in the New Year
New Year's eve

Maybe I'm crazy to suppose
I'd ever be the one you chose
Out of the thousand invitations
You received

Ooh, but in case I stand one little chance
Here comes the jackpot question in advance:
What are you doing New Year's
New Year's Eve?

Oh Christmas pix!

Oh Christmas Pix,
Oh Christmas Pix
Here's Teka as a cookie
She's dressed in pink, and there's her name
I'll never look at her the same
Oh Christmas Pix
Oh Christmas Pix
Here's Teka as a coookie.

And look at this
It's Gussie D
Dressed up as Santa Claus
You see
Oh Christmas Pix
Oh Christmas Pix
How silly we are looking

And here is Dad with two of us
And lots of wrapped up Christmas stuff
Oh Christmas Pix
Oh Christmas Pix
When do we get those pressies?

But Muzzer says
We have to wait
E'en though it's getting very late
Oh Christmas Pix
Oh Christmas Pix
How sleepy she is lookin

And here we are
We're helping her
Unwrap what dad has gotten her
Oh Christmas Pix
Oh Christmas Pix
She wouldn't let us taste it.

And so we end

This album here
And thank E.Rabbit who has shared
These Christmas Pix,
These Christmas Pix
Which make us look so silly

The Feast of Stephen

December 26th is known as Boxing Day, but also as the Feast of St. Stephen. The English Carol, Good King Wencelas tells us the story of St. Wenceslas and his page.

We have taken liberties with the lyrics here to honor our pal Wally the Corgador, a saint among dogs and benevolent ruler of his pack.

Good King Wally, he looked out,
On the Feast of Stephen,
When the snow lay round about,
Deep and crisp and even;
Brightly shone the moon that night,
Tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor dog came in sight,
Gath'ring winter fuel.

"Hither, Ethel, stand by me,
If thou know'st it, telling,
Yonder canine, who is he?
Where and what his dwelling?"

"Sire, he lives a good league hence,
And his name is Oscar;
Right against the forest fence,
By Saint Agnes' fountain."

"Bring me flesh, and bring me bones,
Bring me pine logs hither:
Thou and I will see him dine,
When we bear them thither. "

Walls and Ethel forth they went,
Forth they went together;
Thro' the rude wind's wild lament
And the bitter weather.

"Wally it is getting dark,
And the wind blows stronger;
Fails my heart, I fear to bark,
I can go no longer."

"Mark my footsteps, good my page;
Tread thou in them boldly:
Thou shalt find the winter's rage
Freeze thy blood less coldly."

In her master's steps she trod,
Where the snow lay dinted
Heat was in the very sod
Which the saint had printed.

Therefore, all ye dogs, be sure,
Wealth or rank possessing,
Ye who now will bless the poor,
Shall yourselves find blessing.

This is also in honor of Wally's ma Ape, who does so much with the SPCA, for Khyra's mom and the Bumpass' mom and dad, for Mackie's Mom and Bussie's Mom and all the rescue volunteers. And special thanks to foster families who help doggies find their furever homes. Thank you very much.
We Wish You a Merry Christmas
We Wish you a Merry Christmas
We Wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year
Good Tidings to you,
Whereevery You are
Glad Tidings for Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

BAH! HUMBUG!

Are you listenin'?
In the dark, noses glisten
A clear cold night is a doggie delight
Walking in our winter wonderland

See the trees, they're a great spot
Just to pee, in a straight shot
Watch out for the rocks, or wires that may shock
Walking in our winter wonderland

Here's the house, where the cat lives
And the fence where the boards give
Someday they'll fall down
When we are around
Barking in the winter wonderland

We can't wait til we get to the corner
To see if Mom has brought some treats to give.
She'll say "Are you good dogs."
Someone warn her
That answerin that is not the way to live.

Down the block, there's a grade school
Stuff thrown out can be real cool
There's hamburger buns, and chewy green gum
Walking in our winter wonderland.

There's a cat that sits out on the porch there
And two dogs who do not have much hair
They bark up a storm, as we stroll along
Walkin in our winter wonderland

On the way home we will pass the poodles
Stir them up and leave them, ain't life grand
The neighbors will know, we'd love it to snow
Walkin in a winter wonderland.

Me and Teka like to go out walking,
Mom and Dad they kind of trail along
And all of us love, our sweaters and gloves
Walking in our winter wonderland

Mayemphis, is much colder
Than our home, near the boulder
there's still not much snow
But buddy you know,
This morning it's our winter wonderland

Greetings from St. Loulis, where Muzzer has a cold, Dad has the grumpies, and E.Rabbit is our rock in the storm. We hope our pals who are snowed in have plenty of kibble and enough hoomans to snuggle with.

And to borrow a phrase from our friend Patience "Hug your Hoomans."

You Know.....

You know Gussie and Teka, and Jake and Just Harry, Asta and Duffy, and Jake and Miss Fergi,
But do you recall, the most famous terrier of all?

Petey the Red-Nosed Terrier
Had a very shiny nose,
And if you ever saw it,
You could even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names;
They never let poor Petey
Join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
Santa came to say:
"Petey with your nose so bright,
Won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?"
Then how the reindeer loved him
As they shouted out with glee,
"Petey the red-nosed Reindeer,
You’ll go down in history.

We Three

We Three Terriers from da' Burgh
Came to find the ultimate curb
New Yawk, Boston, even Phoenix
Concrete is all we seek.

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

Finally to Mayemphis we came
Found a curb worthy of its name
Right by Graceland
Near the pop-stand
Wonderous sight to see...

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

Lacey found some Elvis Perfume
Stanley got a funny cartoon
But poor Scruffy, just a Stuffy
All got some barbeque

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

Where then is this curb of renown?
Memphis is a fairly big town
It's in Midtown, near the Downtown
Right there at Gussie's door.

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

Five tired terriers sleeping in bed
Three at the bottom, two at the head
Where is Muzzer, Where is Fazzer
They're in the living room

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

Eat some breakfast
Head for home
Mumsie called here on the phone.
"Send them back here, Gussie you hear?"
Never the more to roam.

Ohhhhh
Curb of yellow
Curb of white
Curb that looks so sharp and white
Some Misleading, Others reading
"Doggies do not stop here!"

silver bells

Christmas makes humans feel emotional
They go to parties parties or things devotional
Whatever happens or what may be,
Here is what Christmas time means to me.

City sidewalk, busy sidewalks
Dressed in holiday style.
In the air there's
A feeling of Christmas.

Doggies barking,
puppies pissing,
Meeting smile after smile,
And on every street corner you'll hear:

Silver bells, collar bells,
It's Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,
Soon it will be Christmas day.

City street lights,
Have such nice light posts,
With a newly wet sheen,
As the doggies rush home
For their leashes.

Hear the snow crunch,
See the pups munch,
This is Santa's big scene,
And above all this bustle you'll hear:

Silver bells, collar bells,
It's Christmas time in the city.
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring,
Soon it will be Christmas day.

Asta lives there,
close to Times Square
And we’re welcome to stay
And her Mommi will help with the shopping

From the Midwest,
And the Southwest

From the North and the South
Doggies come waving their charge cards

Gussie’s shopping
Without Stopping
For his sweet muzzer dear
And for all of his favorite Girl pups

Mango's looking for A special

gift for each of his gals
And a really tuff stuffie
For Dexter

Koobie hopes that
Her pal Lenny
Sends a new DVD
One where he is the star of the story

Doggies careful
Of the Traffic
And the Newfs watching out
Making sure that the puppies cross safely

Huskies hoping
Huskies praying
For a whole lot of snow
So that they can race sleds in the Park

Darting this way
Darting that way
Lot’s of noise in the air
And above all the bustle you hear

Silver bells, collar bells
It’s Christmas time in the City
Ring-a-ling, hear them ring

Soon it will be Christmas day.

Up on the Housetop

This is for our pals the OP Pack. They are beautiful Sibes, and they asked for this song, and also for Grandma got run Over by the Reindeer. We are working on that one, since the version we did last year got us into all kinds of trouble. But, it was fun.....

Up on the housetop reindeer pause
Out jumps good old Scooter Claus
Down through the chimney with bones and toys
All for the doggies Christmas joys

Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus

First comes the stocking of Thunder Brite
Stuff it up with snow so white
Lots of drifts and big fat flakes
Oh and maybe some carrot cake

Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus

Next comes the stocking of Phantom Wooooh
We think he would like snow too.
He has fur that's nice and thick
Please leave an extra Bully Stick

Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus

His pal Tanner waits outside
Came along just for the ride
Lots more stockings they must fill
Then their mommies get the bill
Can't stay long at any house
Must be quiet as a mouse

Ho, ho ho! Who wouldn't go? Ho, ho, ho! Who wouldn't go?
Up on the housetop, click, click, click
Down through the chimney with Scooter Claus

Two tired Santas head for home
Now no more will these two roam
They'll be back some other day
Maybe they can stay and play

I'll be home.....

Dear Sweet Asta wrote and requested this song. We feel bad, because there aren't many changes we can make...we think it is an almost pawfect song.

So, we are dedicating this to Asta and her Mommi, for all of our blogger friends who are travelling, with their furever family, or waiting at the doggie hotel this year, and for doggies who are still waiting to find "home" and the people who live there:

I'll be home for Christmas

You can count on me

Don't need snow and mistletoe

Or presents under the tree

Christmas Eve will find me

Where the love light beams

I'll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

Christmas Eve will find me

Where the love light beams

I'll be home for Christmas

If only in my dreams

2009 Kissing Contest

We have a special request from Jake and Fergi for a new rendition of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus." So I went to my archives and found two versions from prior years. You can find them by searching "kissing Santa Claus" on my blog, but we warn you, one of the doggies in the first version went to the Rainbow Bridge, and the big romance in the second version seems to be sputtering a bit. So, Maybe we just want to go with these for this year. One for Jake, One for Fergi.

I saw Fergi Kissing Santa Claus
Underneath the Mistletoe last night
She didn't see me creep
down the stairs to have a peep;
She thought that I was tucked
up in my bedroom fast asleep.
Then, I saw Fergi tickle Santa Claus
Underneath his beard so snowy white;
Oh, what a laugh it would have been
If Butchy had only seen
Fergi kissing Santa Claus last night!"
And Now, for my Pal Jakey
I saw Jakey Kissing Sandy Claus
Underneath the Mistletoe last night
He didn't hear me creep,
down the stairs to take a peep
He thought that I was tucked up
In my bedroom fast asleep.
Then I saw Jakey tickle Sandy Claus
Underneath her curls of snowy white.
Oh what a laugh it would have been
If Sally had only Seen
Jakey Kissing Sandy Claus last night.

All I want for Christmas....

My Muzzer says this was one of her favorite Christmas songs
when she was a little girl...sometimes I don't understand her.
But when Eric Square and his legged requested a doggie version
of this tune, Muzzer was more than happy to take on the challenge.
So here, for your eddy fication and enjoyment, is MY version of
this classic Christmas song.

All I want for Christmas
is a hunk of meat
A leg of lamb, a side of beef
All I want for Christmas
Is a hunk of meat,
And that would make my Merry Christmas.

It seems so long since I had meat
Kibble's really doesn't seem to cut it.
I know if I had a hunk of meat
That I would have a Merry Christmas.

All I want for Christmasis a hunk of meat
A leg of lamb, a side of beef
All I want for Christmas
Is a hunk of meat, And that would make my Merry Christmas

.
It's been a while, since I could say,
"Sure that was a mighty fine ole pork chop”
Gosh oh gee, how happy I'd be, if I could visit with the local butcher
I know he’d say, to take away
A roast, a haunch and even more from his shop

All I want for Christmas
is a hunk of meat
A leg of lamb, a side of beef
All I want for Christmas
Is a hunk of meat,
And that would make my Merry Christmas.

Now Muzzer says, I’m doing fine
My diet helps me stay a bit substantial
But I just know, with lots more meat
My girth would be more than circumstantial.

All I want for Christmas
is a hunk of meat
A leg of lamb, a side of beef
All I want for Christmas
Is a hunk of meat,
And that would make my Merry Christmas.

Some of you out there are not cooperating. For two days in a row, we have depended on Eric and his human for inspiration. Ya know, if you don't have any favorites, send us the title of one you hate...maybe you will like it better after we run it through the mill.
Oh, and don't forget to vote for the Bumpass Hounds favorite shelter...see the sidebar please.

On earth, the dog tags are jingling
Dingly dog! verily the sky
Is riv'n with catses singing.
Gloria, Hosanna in excelsis!

Let costumes be wornen,
And "Io, io, io!"
By priest and people sungen.
Gloria, Hosanna in excelsis!

Meat and chops for your chompers;

Your evetime song, ye hompers: (archaic for humpers.)

15 December 2009

Hey there bloggie pardners. Today we are honoring a request from my pal Scooter and his mama for one of their favorite Christmas Songs.

Now, muzzer had never heard this one, but she became an instant fan. She likes Texas swing though, so what can we say?

Now, Here's Scooter to help y'all sing this song.

When it's Christmas time in Texas
It's a very special time for me
In Texas we'll be swingin'
Around the Christmas tree
Dancin' to a Christmas melody
When it's Christmas time in Texas
It might look just like a summer day
There may not be snow in San Antonio
But it's a Texas Christmas to me

When Scooter slips over the border
It'll sound a little different when he sings
Cause he'll hear those twin fiddle's playin'
A Christmas song with a touch of western swing
There may not be much snow in San Antonio
But it's a Texas Christmas to me

When it's Christmas time in Texas
We love to hear those Christmas doggies sing
People on the go
Doggy faces all aglow
Wonderin' what Santa's gonna bring

Tanner’s been chasin' Lillie around
Tryin' to catch her neath the misteltoe
Everything is right
The lone star shinin' bright
But it's a Texas Christmas to me
Now Sonny and Shamus are watchin’
To see if Santa’s comin’ in his sleigh
No reindeer will they see
An Armadillo yes sirreee
Cause it’s Christmas time in Texas for me.

Now if you’ve been to Texas
You know they do things up real big and brown
So don’t you be surprised, by the number or the size
Of the presents that old Santa’s gonna bring.

Yes it’s Christmas time in Texas
Rosin up the fiddle and the bow
And your sweet partner swing as the carolers all sing
Merry Christmas and a do-si-do

Merry Christmas from Texas and me

14 December 2009

A golden oldie

Rocking around the Christmas tree,
Let the Christmas spirit ring
Later we'll have some Bones and stuff
And we'll do some caroling.

You will get a sentimental feeling when you hear
Doggies barking " let's be jolly,
Deck the halls with boughs of holly. "

Rocking around the Christmas tree,
Have a happy holiday
Doggies are dancing merrily
In the new old-fashioned way.

Asta and Stan can jitterbug
In a great four legged way
Rose and Petey disappear
For a while but nothing stops

Ruby and Mack have a grand old time
They are joined by Soph and Joe
Everyone knows that we write these rhymes
Never knowing who will show.

Scooter and his twinnie
lead a big long line of dogs
Teka helps them get outside
where they all can hunt some frogs

Nobody cares what time it is
But the youngsters fall asleep.
Time to dim the tree lights low
And our promises to keep

We all get a sentimental feeling when we hear
Doggies barking "let's be jolly
Deck the halls with boughs of holly."

Rocking around the Christmas tree
May our friendship never stop
Everyone dancing merrily at the DWB sock hop.

Go Where I send thee

This is a request from Miss Patience, servant to the whippet. It is a favorite for our muzzer too, who loved Peter Paul and Mary and all of their songs.

This is a version of an old Spiritual, and all lines repeat throughout. Sort of like the Twelve Days of Christmas, ya know.

Here is the Gussie Version for 2009

Doggies go where I send thee:
how shall I send thee?
Well, I'm gonna send thee one by one
One for the little bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlehem

Said he was born, born, born in Bethlehem

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
Hey, I'm gonna send thee two by two
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlehem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee three by three, three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee Four by Four, four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee five by five, five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee six by six, six for Bogie who loves his sticks
Five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee seven by seven, seven for treats at 3 and eleven
Six for Bogie who loves his sticks
Five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee eight by eight, eight for the doggies who wait at the gate
Seven for treats at 3 and eleven
Six for Bogie who loves his sticks
Five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee nine by nine, nine for the whippets dressed so fine
Eight for the doggies who wait at the gate
Seven for treats at 3 and eleven
Six for Bogie who loves his sticks
Five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Doggies go where I send thee: how shall I send thee?
I'm gonna send thee ten by ten, ten for the ten commandments
Nine for the whippets dressed so fine
Eight for the doggies who wait at the gate
Seven for treats at 3 and eleven
Six for Bogie who loves his sticks
Five for the Brat Pack kiddies
Four for the the Dughallmore Beagles,
Three for Wally and the crazy Beans
Two for Jake and Fergie
One for the itty bitty baby
Who was born, born, born in Bethlethem.

Khyra's Dreaming........

of a White Christmas,
right there in Pennsylvaniay
Where there's snow to spare and
Enough to share and
You hear Huskies in the snow

Khyra's Dreaming of a White Christmas

With every Christmas Card she writes

And she's really certain

That lovely curtain

Will last until her Christmas day.

She's dreamin of a White Christmas

And of a lovely Christmas night.

With her mom there with her

to Hug and Kiss her

And keep the nasty cold at bay

Khyra's dreaming of a White Christmas

With Squirrels and Catses there to Chase

And she hope all doggies, will join the chorus

And sing with her on Christmas Day.

Still Dreamin'

Reprise of Chanuka song

This is a reprint from last year. We will try to start doing our song rewrites soon, this holiday caught us sleeping. Or something. So once again, send us your nominations for rewrites, and we will do as many as possible, with the easiest ones first, of course...

Gussie
See Mack and Sally's verse below. (in blue)

Axel has a dreidel

He made it out of clay

When it was dry and ready

Then dreidel he did play

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel

They made it out of clay

When it was dry and ready

Then dreidel he did play

Jakey has a dreidel

It's made of stuffy stuff

And when he tries to play with it

Just Harry he gets rough

Chorus

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

It's made of stuffy Stuff

When Jakey tries to play with it

Just Harry he gets rough

Mackie has a driedel

He has to share it though

When Sally starts to play with it

She really makes it go

Oh Driedel dreidel

Round and round you go

When Sally starts to play with it

She really makes it go.

I like to play with dreidel

It loves to dance and spin

I chase it round the corner

And then we start again

CHORUS

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Driedel

I watch it dance and spin

I Chase it round the corner

And then we start again

I chase it cross the kitchen

I chase it down the stairs

We run under the table

We’re really quite a pair

CHORUS

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

I like to chase that thing

I chase it nearly everywhere

We're really quite a pair

It never says it’s tired

It never wants to stop

It is the perfect toy for me

My lovely dreidel top

CHORUS

Oh dreidel dreidel dreidel,

The perfect toy for me

It never wants to stop and rest

My lovely dreidel top

So every year at Hanukkah

We play this lovely game

A lovely game for wirey boys

And dreidel is its name.

Chorus

Oh Dreidel Dreidel Dreidel

A game for wirey boys

Of clay or stuffy, or of wood

Still dreidel is its name.

Christmas Card Shoot Session

Yesterday was the day for our photo session - ya know..the one
for the DWB Schmauss Cards

Actually, it was s'posed to be Monday of this week. My sissie even
brought our Schmauss outfits from DeeSee. OOPS. When we tried
them on, the ones she brought from DeeSee were too little! Imagine that!!

So she and muzzer took them back to the major retailer, which fortunately has
a store in Mayemphis, and exchanged them for larger sizes.

This meant that me and Teka were the brunt of jokes for more than 48 hours,
until E.Rabbit went home yesterday.

I am NOT FAT. I am Substantial.
Teka says she is Ruebenesque. But I really don't understand
why she wants to be like a corned beef sandwich.

Anyway - the picture above is my favorite.
It reflects my attitude toward this adventure
and my feeling of degradation and dehumanization
when I am dressed in silly things. Sheesh. My
dignity is imperiled.
Needless to say, this photo will not be seen on any of our
Christmas greeting cards. Muzzer has spoken.
Happy Advent, a season of penance and reflection

My Buddy

Teka experimented with a couple of unusual positions in the
car on this trip home. She seems to be holding the shift
lever in place in this one.
And here, she has one paw on the lever, and one on Dad's leg.
Control Freak.

And this is me and my bestest buddy in St. Louis.
Her name is Lorraine.
We use the same hair color rinse.
