Please Put Millie on the Power of the Paw List

This is our friend, Miss Millie
when her name was still Maxine.

Now, she lives with Steve and Sue,
who have known the pawrents
FOREVER!
She came to live with them from a place called
Right here in Mayemphis.

Here is why she needs the power of the paw.

When she came to live with her furever family
last spring, she was tested for heartworm.
Her test showed she was negative.
That was early in the spring of 2009.

This week, Millie went for her annual checkup.
And when the vet checked for those nasty old heartworms
Millie's test came back POSITIVE!
Even though she has gotten her Heartworm Meds
every month since she was adopted.

But the vet said it could be because some little
heartworm larvae were already living in Millie.

So, now Millie has to get treated for heartworms.

And we all know that is no fun, and carries some risk
for the dog, too.

Millie is a strong dog.
She has a great batch of hoomans rooting for her.
And of course, Me and Teka are sending her
lots of terrier vibes and healing zen.

But we are not taking any chances.
So we are calling on the power of the Paw, please.
And appreciate any help you can spare.

Here is a more recent picture of Millie and her Mom.

And you can read more about Millie here.

Just so you know she has landed with a really great family.

kisses

Miss Millie is as cute as a button. We will say our doggie prayers for her and Max tonight. If she is young, then, her youth should help her a lot to overcome this problem;but, it is still not good. Give her a cookie for us the next time you see her.

You've asked. We've done it. Paws are crossed and we'll be hoping and praying for the best for Miss Millie. Please keep us posted.

We spent some time looking over the Good Dog Rescue site - very nice place they have going there. You KNOW how much we appreciate those kind of places.

Gotta run. You know what that means.

My paws are khwite khrossed fur Millie -

That is sad she's gotten some of those nasty worms BUT it does seem as if hoomans are getting better in figuring out how to treat them once it gets this far -

She is khwite an adorable girl!

Awww...I'll keep Millie in my Irish prayers. I have another friend, Wallace Liam, (youn can see his pic on my guestbook on my blog) who was just adopted from a shelter that was shut down. He is in bad condition because all the other dogs would jump him and beat him up. No worries, I'm gonna teach him to fight like the red-headed Irish I am). Anyway, he tested positive for heartworms too and begins treatment in a few weaks when he gets strong enough. Say prayers for him too, please.

Gus, we are lucky we get that tasty Heartgard every month, huh? And we also have a roof over our head, yummy food in our bowls, a bed to sleep in (mom and dad's) and lots of affection and attention. Just a few of things these shelter dogs don't have besides heartworm prevention! Yay for Mille's new parents!!!

We'll hold Miss Millie tight in our prayers and hearts...

She looks very sweet and we know it's going to be tough to stay still and quiet for treatment.

Hey Gussie! Sorry I haven't visited in awhile, we've had sketchy Internet service. Do you have any snow? It's chillier than normal down here but we're gonna bundle up and head to the beach anyhow!

We'll keep our paws crisscrossed for that cute Miss Millie!

Your pal,

Petey

No problems, Gussie...we all have our paws crossed and are ready to ZEN for Millie!!

Now...as for the so obviously TERRIER behavior displayed in your house this morning...?

Sounds like Teka girlie is the instigater?

Mumsie keeps a soda pop can with pennies in it where the opening is taped...she keeps them by our um "trigger" area...food, doors, the shower...

It's been known to fly up in the air and crash in front of the offending dog.

WE HATE IT.

Her last foxie thought it was a hooge joke and attacked it...but we totally stop our behavior and move on to something else. Fighting also got a lot of water poured on our heads...usually very cold water that was kept in a handy bowl...we'd fight and splat...get smacked with a torrent of water...worked too...

We rarely fight and the shake cans are pretty dusty...you can use a spray bottle with water or water and a bit of vinegar....

Or an air horn that you can buy at a pet supply place...

Ya might wanna talk to PL2...A & A fight when Archie's thyroid is outta wack???

Best I can do for dogchair psychology...you can ask Mumsie....she's very regimented with our routine. She also, (daily) from the day we got Stanley tosses several handfuls of popcorn or cereal on the floor where we all have to share space...a trainer told her that...so we don't seem to squabble bout food in general...

Khisses to all especially that feisty Teka...
