Praying for Jackson

We found out this morning that our pal Jackson, the inspirational founder of the Substantial Wires Club, has received bad news from the vampire vets yet again! Jackson has a tumor on his lung, and we are all waiting anxiously to hear about the next round of tests, and whether they will be able to operate to help him. Please head over to Jackson's blog and take all your best healing thoughts and prayers along.
Scruffy, Lacey and Baby Stan posted the picture above this morning, showing prayer flags flying over Mount Everest, and many other doggies are posting stories about him too. We really want to help, but he is very far away from most of us (he lives in the UK) so we are doing the best we can by spreading the word about his illness and asking others to take a smile with them when they visit.
Muzzer is still in Tempe, working on selling the store. Gotta tell ya, I'm kind of glad she is there and not here. I just can't handle it when the woman starts weeping. She told me tonight on the cell phone that lots of people in the bakery where she is eating (good food and wifi connections too) are going to visit Jackson because they have seen her sitting there at her puter and weeping.
I will build a church in the wildwood
Where all of the doggies can pray
For friends and family far and near
And loved ones, far away
And I know that the powers will listen
And hear their pure sweet pleas
And bring their dearest wishes
And lift them from their knees
The dogs will have the wisdom
To know the answer's true
E'en though it may not be the one
That they would ever choose
So honor all the animals
As they petition raise
And wipe their tears and heal their fears
Make safe their loving days.
And here is a Navho prayer that Scruffy, Lacie and Stan also Posted.
House made of dawn
House made of evening light
House made of dark cloud
Dark cloud is at this house's door,
The trail out of it is dark cloud
The zigzag lightening stands high upon it
Happily, may I walk.
Happily, with abundant showers, may I walk
Happily, with abundant plants, may I walk
Happily, on the trail of pollen may I walk.
Happily, may I walk.
May it be beautiful before me.
May it be beautiful behind me.
May it be beautiful below me.
May it be beautiful above me.
May it be beautiful all around me.
In beauty it is finished.
Many more years of Beauty for Jackson and his Js

Me and Teka are on strike (again!)

Teka and I are on strike because of what they have done to our yard!
Remember yesterday when that truck came to our house?
Well, because of that we now refuse to go into our back yard
Teka just keeps watch from the porch, while I ignore the whole thing.
And it is all because of these silly white flag things!
When we go near them, they beep at us.
If we go closer, it feels like there are buzzy bees under my collar
Teka says it is the same with her, only worse, because she is more sensitive.

I can't even cheat and go through my shack with the red door because they are waitin for me at the back wall!

How am I gonna go visit my poor, sweet Miss Snickers, who has been asking for me constantly?

How is poor Teka ever going to see her Swede William again?

Stay tuned for the next episode.

Whasssup!

This truck is sitting in front of my house, and there are two men in the back yard digging. To quote a wise dog "Wassssssup!

21 July 2008

Oh My!

When last seen, the intrepid duo of Gussie and Miss Teka were "borrowing" the Gussiemobile

And heading off to pick up Teka's newest flame, Swede William and some of the Whippet Waggle in Kontucky.
As several of our friends pointed out, Gussie is in the driver's seat! However...that means Teka is navigating and working the pedals. Oops. So, who knew that Missouri shares borders with TWO states that begin with "K?" And that is how we ended up in Kansas first. Teka's reading skills are not much more than basic, and she got konfused by all those Ks on the map.

No harm. After a brief stop at Stella and Stanley's house, we headed due east (sort of) to have another try at finding Kontucky.
Fortunately, Teka was there visiting only about a week ago, and she followed the trail of Swede William's pheromes right to his door.
Now, Willam was waiting for us, since me and Teka had been calling on the cell phone, and he and his fellow wagglers
Lindy Loo
And Sam I Am (the therapy dog), were ready to go with us to the pawty for Miss Snickers.
Sweet Delia decided to stay at home with Bill, her personal servant.
The other members of the waggle wanted to use the opportunity to have some quality time with their main servant, and help her with a little problem that developed.
anyway...as you might know from Butchy and Snickers reports on the party, even with all the detours, we were the first group to arrive!
We didn't get there too early though, as Aire Ruby landed soon after.
Need I say that a good time was had by all, particularly the Birthday Girl and her pals Asta (NY) and Lacie. We waded, we ate birfday cake, we had a mud spa, me and Butcho mud wrassled, oh my, indeed a great time.
BUT...the weekend ended too soon, and we had to head back to drop off the whippets and rescue muzzer and dad. Oops. Big miscalculation.
Me and Teka R in the Dog HOUSE. We are in the doggy big house. Things are so bad that we are getting an electric fence installed tomorrow! Muzzer and dad were not amused. I guess they didn't understand the mud on (and in) the gussiemobile. Oh well....silly hoomans that they are, I am sure they will forget to turn the fence on some morning and me and Teka can have another excellent adventure.
Until then...Gussie reporting from Mayemphis. Sigh.

Breakout!

Gussie Here! Early this morning, me and Teka had a great idea. While the parents were loading the Gussiemobile for a trip to Cape Girardeau, me and Teka did a Mapquest search...Well, from Cape G. to a certain town in KY it is not very far. And then, from Paduccer to Iowa is an easy stretch.

So we dognapped the Gussiemobile, and took off to pick up Swede William and his Waggle. We will be reporting on our adventures. I just hope Teka really knows how to work those pedals.

Left Field

I know I am late, but hey,,,,we're travellin' dogs! I want to thank my pal Koobus
and her mom for the fantabulous job they did with the All Star Game. And particularly for the promotion to left field! Muzzer and Dad have always insisted that this song is about me....and they sing it to me:

Saturday summers, when I was a kid
We'd run to the schoolyard and here's what we did
We'd pick out the captains and we'd choose up the teams
It was always a measure of my self esteem
Cuz the fastest, the strongest, played shortstop and first
The last ones they picked were the worst
I never needed to ask, it was sealed,
I just took up my place in right field.
Playing...

chorus:Right field, it's easy, you know.
You can be awkward and you can be slow
That's why I'm here in right field
Just watching the dandelions grow
Playing right field can be lonely and dull
Little Leagues never have lefties that pull

I'd dream of the day they'd hit one my way
They never did, but still I would pray
That I'd make a fantastic catch on the run
And not lose the ball in the sun
And then I'd awake from this long reverie
And pray that the ball never came out to me
Here in... (chorus)

Off in the distance, the game's dragging on,
There's strikes on the batter, some runners are on.
I don't know the inning, I've forgotten the score.
The whole team is yelling and I don't know what for.
Then suddenly everyone's looking at me
My mind has been wandering; what could it be?
They point at the sky and I look up above
And a baseball falls into my glove!
Here in right field, it's important you know.
You gotta know how to catch, you gotta know how to throw,
That's why I'm here in right field, just watching the dandelions grow!

The Return of Teka!

Well, Teka is back, and seems pretty much the same as she left...maybe a little skinnier, and all she wants to do is sleep.

She says she had a marvelous time with Swede William and the gang, but there were a couple of things that were different from at home, and she had to make some adjustments.

First thing...she had to get herself into the first group for walkies, because the Servant who walked them was sleepier then. He kept trying to count dogs, and coming up with one more than he expected. But Teka had very cleverly taken her collar from dogwalkers
which is just like the ones the whippets wear, and so the servant kept saying "right collar, must be our dog."

She reports that one or two times, he noticed that she was shorter than all the rest of the dogs, but he kept saying to himself "collar's right, fits OK, must walk it."She and Swede William had a great time, and she said he was very nice to her, and even shared food sometimes. She says next time, she must remember to take her own bowl. (Next time!)
Mama Pajama was very nice to her, telling her how things were supposed to go and when it was time for walkies to start. Also giving Teka much advice on how to get along with Swede William. Teka feels that Mama P is very wise and good.
But her favorite whippet (except for Swede William, of course!) is Very Old Dog. He was a bit confused, thinking she was just a puppy of sorts, but he very kindly told her she could call him Grandfather, and often made room for her at nap time.

And of course, her favorite human servant was Dr. Bill, shown here with Swede William on William's recent Barkday. Teka says his spaghetti is just as good as muzzer makes! And she thinks he caught on that she was a visitor by about the third day, because bowl number ten began appearing, and she didn't have to wait for someone to share with her. She is planning another trip soon, maybe even when the whippet servant is home!

Even Muzzer seems glad to have her back, and now we can get ready for our trip to see Aunt Re in St. Loulis, and maybe I can have some Steak and Shake!

Beware! Service Pack 3

Microsoft has killed our desktop with service pack 3.

Muzzer wanted to install the new anti malicious spyware update, but had to install SV3 first. KabooeyKrash. Desktop refuses now to talk to muzzer. Muzzer spends long hours on the phone with Microsoft support folks in far away lands who INSIST they are in Pennsylvania. (Transylvania, more likely!) Gussie is ignored. Dad is upset. We are not happy campers.

Oh yeah, and we heard from Teka that she is heading home soon.

Could that have anything to do with the fact that the Head Servant for the Whippet Waggle is due back from her trip to Sveden? Ah Ha!

08 July 2008

As you know, the last time I saw Teka, she was gettin into Swede William's limousine, heading off to visit him in Paducah. She called from Cape Giradeau, Mo where she had sweet talked the limo driver into visiting a Steak n' Shake, and then again from Paducah as they were pulling up in front of the Whippet Waggel House.

Since then, we haven't heard from her. And - now this is a seecrud, OK? I am gettin a little worried.

So, I have been in contact with Inspector Butcho
And Detective Joe Stains
To see if they will infiltrate the waggle and just tell me she is OK.
They are planning to go in undercover, disguised as whippets. I don't know how they can manage that, but they are both masters of disguise. It will be interesting.

Worried about Teka

I'm getting a little worried about Teka....most of the time, she sits like this and stares into space.

or maybe she will sit like this for a while..... I asked her what was wrong, and she told me not to worry, that it is only 207 miles to Swede William's house, and that he was sending his limousine to pick her up!

I told her I didn't think Swede William had a limousine, only a van for dog shows. She said he told her to watch for the limo, and that it had his picture on the side of it.
Sure enough, just a couple of minutes ago, this showed up in front of the house, and Teka got on, wearing her pink collar and clutching muzzer's cell phone.

If you see her, please let me know.

more fuzzy house pix, no terriers

Muzzer has gone house mad. She wanted me to post these pictures of the house. This is so NOT what it looks like right now. You cannot see the fireplace for the book boxes! But these were taken by the previous owner right after they did some repainting and stuff, and muzzer is gaga. Here is that fireplace she likes so much. It is built of "clinker" bricks, which are the ones cast off by the builders. She gets sorta biblical about this one.

And here is the dining room, with another view of the wallpaper border.
Sheesh...I hope she doesn't go all "authentic" on me.

Woo Hoo Teka's got a "Secret Admirer!"

Today me n Teka got a package in the mail.
It was from the Whippet Waggle's own personal seamstress. Muzzer had ordered some spiffy new collars and leads for us from their webstore and today, they CAME!

Now...the really strange thing is that there was a pretty pink package inside with the collars, and this is what is says!
Well, someone must tell that boy that anonymous does not have a name! But Teka is thrilled, because this is her first real pressie from anyone outside our family. And especially because she thinks the whippets are ultra cool, and she thinks Swede William is the coolerest, even cooler than Tanner!
And inside the pretty pink package was this very dainty and delicate collar, just the perfect size for a Teka neck. And see...it has a pretty silver heart on it! And Teka will not take it off, not even to let muzzer put her tags on it. So we accomplished the tag transer on the fly...so to speak.
See...doesn't she look loverly?
And here is the other side of the card from Swede William, which has a photo of his very handsome self. At the next pawty he comes to, I will have to sit him down and talk to him, and make sure his intentions are honorable.
