OH CHRISTMAS TREE!

These are my pals Jackson and Patrick. They told a story today about their Christmas tree, which started my little mind working.
In Germany, this song is known as O Tannenbaum, and the first known version of it dates to 1550. It is also known as Maryland, my Maryland, where one line says "Avenge the patriotic gore, that flecked the streets of Baltimore." That's the kind of thing you find out when your muzzer is a history buff. Fun, huh.
Anyway, here is our song about Patrick and Jackson's christmas tree. You can read the whole story on their blog.
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine-cones
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine-cones
Not only ate them but got ill
His stomach sick, He needs a pill
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
Who ate thy little pine cones
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?
How often now has he been told
Pine cones are bad, when eaten cold
O Christmas Tree! O Christmas Tree!
And did he learn his lesson?

Ahh Gus...that brought back memories for Mumsie whose last foxy wire ATE the needles till he gagged. Course Big Bruvver at the tender age of 15 months munched on a glass ornament like an apple...yep...shards of glass in his mouth...maybe that's why he's like he is today...

Strong job on this song!!

Love and kissies...Lacie

Beautiful new words to a great old song, Muzzer! It has a moral, too. Everyone, especially those of us who are intrigued by trees and all their wonderful smells, could learn a valuable lesson from this.

Nice job!!

Love and Koobuss Kisses,
Koobie

Those lyrics made my girl and I start swaying... like we were on the Peanut's Christmas special. We love your rendition of the song. Personally I like my pinecones any way I can get them, but I especially like them cold!

Goober love & song writing smooches,
Stanley

We are so way behind reading your postings, Gussie! Your CHristmas songs are just brilliant - each and every one of them! Mom has been humming and singing for 10 minutes here and she's very happy! Thank you for that!

Gus - we are completely honoured! Plus the song is totally true. Would it be Ok if we quoted some of it on our blog? (Linking back to you OF COURSE!)

Great work!

Little dogs can't eat little pine cones. Only big Newfoundland dogs can eat little pine cones.
