Ephiphany

Epiphany - traditionally the 12th day after Christmas, and the day the astrologers brought gifts to the Christian Jesus.
But, there are lots of other neat things about Epiphany. There is a yummy cake, quite similar to the kings cake people in New Orleans bake, but without all the purple and green icing.
And there is La Befana...the good witch, who brings presents to good children (and dogs) in Italian villages.

And there are songs and carols, like this one:

"On January 6th, a long time ago

The old folks danced the doe-si-doe

Christmas time has come and gone

Breaking up Christmas, right or wrong"
At our house, it means muzzer should get busy and put away the
Christmas decorations. And the Christmas China goes into the dishwasher
before it gets packed away for another 11 months!
But it also means "An illuminating realization or discovery,
often resulting in a personal feeling of
elation, awe or wonder."
So, when muzzer left us this morning to go read on the
radio, me and Teka talked this over.
We got Chewnola bars from La Befana, and while we
were munching on them and thinking how grateful
we are for special treats..we realized that we are
also blessed with hoomans who love us, and
with our many blogging pals.
So, we are in awe of all of you,
and you fill our hearts with happiness.
Muzzer takes care of filling our tummies
with treats and kibble.
Kisses
Gussie n Teka

Our human pal, Mr. Keillor, wrote today about the little epiphanies that make life so much sweeter. So your thoughts fall right into that happy basket.

Woofs to you all!!

How charming of you both Gussie and Teka. I feel wagging proud and blessed to count you as my pals. Yep. Blogging is certainly full of wonder and suprise. Then I'm in awe of the Chewnola bars (whatever they are any food sounds dogalicious to me) but far more important Muzzer reading on the radio...wow that's a gobsmacker!

Wiry love and kisses Eric xxxx

What'd we ever do to get so lucky to have you as our friends? Guess we can't really rightfully think of it as an epiphany. But it is really important to us. On this very important day.

Love ya
Jake and Fergi
(We keep thinkin' we smell TJ's Peanut Butter Dog Treats on the dining room table. That, and a special stretchy toy. I tried climbing on the table, but Moma caught me opening one of Ferg's pressies, and scolded me. Said I have to wait until NInaGirl gets home. No fair.)

That was really nice, Gussie and Teka. We are so glad we got to know you and only wish we had done so sooner.

Hope you had a great Epiphany. We got the gift of glorious snow AND cold.

Such a great post for the new year! Thanks Gussie!

Are you getting snow in Mayemphis? You asked how could it be cold at the beach? Well...it was 27 degrees this morning and there was ice in the birdbath. Fortunately for me, the golf course is still closed so I got a nice walk along the 10th and 11th holes this morning!

Your pal,

Petey

Muzzer READS ON THE RADIO?? What in the world does she read?? OH MY...that's like totally cool...

Thank you for reminding us of Epiphany...we always read bout the Sundays of Ordinary Time, but we needed to think about this season and its reason.

We don't get all this china and silver thing...the day after Christmas, Mumsie actually polished the silverware which the last time it was done was in 1987; Bruvver was four months old...we're thinkin' it needed it.

Oh oh oh...Mumsie took care of a lady yesterday who has SIX Jack Russells...she owns the mom and dad and they couldn't decide which of the four pups to keep...heh heh heh...patient's mother has a JRT and a rescue WFT who is nuts...Mumsie gave up tryin' to do post op teaching and just laughed about the dogs...

Kisses Gussie and Teka...love to all!!

Laciecakes who is NOT A RUNAWAY...I was just exploring a bit...and contrary to what Petey wrote I was not "found" by Mumsie with my backside wedged between two trees three feet apart...sheesch.
